INTRODUCTION
Personal development covers activities that improve awareness and identity, develop talentsand potential, build human capital and facilitate employability, enhance the quality of life and contribute to the realization of dreams and aspirations. Personal development takes place over the course of a person’s entire life. Not limited to self-help, the concept involves formal and informal activities for developing others in roles such as teacher or mentor. When personal development takes place in the context of institutions, it refers to the methods, programs, tools, techniques, and assessment systems that support human development at theindividual level in organizations. Self-awareness is the capacity for introspection and the ability to recognize oneself as anindividual separate from the environment and other individuals. It is not to be confusedwith consciousness in the sense of qualities.. While consciousness is being aware of oneenvironment and body and lifestyle, self-awareness is the recognition of that awareness. Self-awareness is how an individual consciously knows and understands their owncharacter, feelings, motives, and desires.
Self-image is the mental picture, generally of a kind that is quite resistant to change, that depictsnot only details that are potentially available to objective investigation by others (height, weight, hair color, etc.), but also items that have been learned by persons about themselves, either frompersonal experiences or by internalizing the judgments of others.
Disciplining children is important to create a safe and fun learning environment. Disciplinerequires knowledge, skill, sensitivity and self-confidence; like any art, it is something that one willacquire through training and experience; it becomes easier with practice. Many people confusediscipline with classroom management; discipline is one dimension of classroom managementand classroom management is a general term.
Discipline can also have a positive influence onboth the individual as well as classroom environment. Utilizing disciplinary actions can be anopportunity to reflect and learn about consequences, instill collective values, and encouragebehavior that is acceptable for the classroom. Recognition of the diversity of values withincommunities can increase understanding and tolerance of different disciplinarytechniques. Promoting positive correction of questionable behavior within the classroomdynamic, as opposed to out-of-class punishments like detention, suspension, or expulsion, canencourage learning and discourage future misbehavior. Learning to own onebad behavior can also contribute to positive growth in social emotional learning. Discipline is a set of actions determined by the school district to remedy actions taken by astudent that are deemed inappropriate. Some scholars think students misbehave because of the lack of engagement and stimulation in typical school settings, a rigid definition of acceptable behaviors and a lack of attention and love in a studentpersonal life.
